Who we are in reality and who we would claim to be are commonly two very different things, a disconnect between face and mind. The white petals in this composition could perhaps symbolise “flowery” words. Lips are an integral part of any face, the wispy impasto lines above the mouth attempt to reintegrate this disconnection.
This composition is unframed and is painted on a rigid wood fibre panel with a Tempera Grassa medium that I formulated in my studio. All the paint mediums I prepare by hand in my studio. The colour pigments are of a very fine grade and highly resistant to light fading.
